How to Submit to The Shantyquarian

We're merging online social networking with old-fashioned letterpress printing. Tag your tweets with #shantyQ, and we'll set your words in wood and metal type and print them on an antique press live at Northern Spark. You can also submit using our online form.

Send us your submissions:
                           OR
We encourage you to send us multiple submissions. Submit early, submit often!

For the Northern Spark edition, we will be generating a collaborative text compiled form your responses to prompts based on surrealist writing games. Follow @shantyquarian on Twitter, or check out our What to Submit to The Shantyquarian page.

We'll be printing the Northern Spark edition of The Shantyquarian from sunset (8:59 PM) on Saturday, June 9th through sunrise (5:26 AM) on Sunday, June 10th.

What is Twitter?
Twitter is a social networking and microblogging site that allows you to post short messages (maximum length of 140 characters), follow other users, and keep track of subjects and conversations. Twitter is simple, but it has many uses. Check out thisTwitter tutorial to learn more about how twitter works, or how to set up your own account.

What are tweets?
Tweets are the short messages users post on Twitter.

What are hashtags?
The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark a keyword or topic in a tweet. Any Twitter user can categorize or follow topics with hashtags. We will consider for publication any tweet that includes the hashtag #shantyQ.

How does the Letterpress Shanty track tweets tagged with #shantyq?
There are many websites that track hashtags. We use hashtags.org. Click here to track tweets tagged with #shantyQ.
